Hurricane Message

19 08 2007

In the spirit of the hurricane season, I will post any letters, such as the one below, on the front page of my blog. Please note the electricity will be off within the next 3-4 hours:

The Jamaican Diaspora rep sent out an email notifying Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica here in the States about Hurricane Aid being organized in anticpation of Hurricane Dean.
Persons interested in contributing can call the Consulate’s office at 305-374-8431 Ext 223 and 232. The Diaspora office can be reached at 305-244-4456.

An extensive list of drop off points contained in the original notification has been posted on my blog for those interested.

And we will be praying for Jamaicans at this time.

Thanks

I hope you and your family and friends stayed safe during the storm.

Yes I did notice that our stations were playing cartoons and music videos right before the storm. They always do though. I suppose their idea is that they want to take people’s minds off the storm. But why on earth would you want to take anybody’s mind off a Category 4 hurricane?? :-/

Did the bullshit ever stop? I was listening to mutty perkins last night and i learned it was very thought provoking… the country is in a state.

Shonari I was in a KFC the day after the hurricane and listened to the political ads back to back in the line. Everybody rolled their eyes and a few people said they are just so tired of it. And this applies to BOTH THE PNP AND THE JLP. We are tired of the constant bombardment of commercials pleading with us to vote for Bruce or Portia. Tired!

The question is, how did dean impact the voters, has the hurricane opened the people’s eyes to the poor leadership? how will the votes now swing.

And what was up with the state of emergency? taking away our rights like that was in my point of view a very bad move on Portia’s part.

Just one thing to say…the politicians know how to play politics…i was listening to Mr. Golding today on power 106 trying to respond to an article printed in the Sunday Gleaner, covering up why he misled people into thinking he was not consulted on the whole state of public emergency business…the man spoke with both the PM and the Comissioner of Police b4 the whole thing was done…shame on him for not coming with the full truth…why all the cover ups…part truths…just playing politics…and playing us too…listen between the lines (try hear all that’s not said) and vote smartly!!! Really sorry I don’t have one.
